Week 10 post

Image
Hello everyone! This week in the lab, I got to take more samples and pictures of bacteria. I also got to view some of the bacteria colonies under the microscope. Which I have to admit was super cool. However, it was hard to distinguish anything for some of the bacteria colonies. I am currently working on this project with Marco & Maya. We are coordinating and working as a team to complete the samples and photos. The photos that we are taking of the models are uploaded to a google drive and formatted. At first, I viewed this internship as scary, but I am excited to see how this project turns out right now.

Week 9 post

Hi everyone,  So Monday was my first day in the lab; yay! It was overwhelming, but at the same time, it was exciting. Learning about the possibility of creating a machine to identify bacteria is mind-blowing. With this, you can get more accurate bacteria identification in less time. This rapid identification of bacteria helps the medical field and can benefit the food and farming industries. With a shorter identification time, we can also treat bacterial infections faster, which means that person suffers less and gets well sooner. Learning about all of this was exciting, and it is incredible what we can do with technology. I also put my bacteria in the incubator and am excited to see how that turns out.

Week 8 post

Hello everyone. So Monday was supposed to be the first day of the lab for me. So on Mondays, I work from 4 am to 12:30 pm at Costco, so after I was off work, I headed over to the Dalby building, and I am there knocking, waiting for someone to open the door for me, and I am waiting and waiting, until I realize that it is spring break week. So I blame that act on the lack of sleep from the previous night. Anyway, I am looking forward to my first lab day next week, haha. Hopefully, your spring break is going great.

Week 7 post!

Hello everyone. The start of this semester has been an adventure, and I have no clue what is ahead of me this year, but that makes things more exciting. I am a full-time student at Phoenix College. I work part-time at Costco and trying to manage two internship programs this semester. I am excited & nervous to start my journey with the TRAIN program this semester. Hopefully, I do a good job managing and organizing my time, which is one of my main concerns. I do not know what to expect from this scholarship, but I know I will have great mentors that will help and guide me through this journey.
